Galations 5:22-26
22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. 24Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. 25Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit. 26Let us not become conceited, provoking and envying each other.
The fruit of your old nature, your flesh nature, is sin. As it says in verse 24, we have crucified our sinful nature. So as believers we should have a fruits of the Spirit, godly fruits. We should all at least have joy. Always. I'm not saying that you have to be "happy" all the time. That just doesn't happen! But you should always be joyful. If you can't think of anything that makes you joyful, how about your salvation? You will never lose your salvation, and Jesus will always be with you. That's definitely something to be joyful about. Matthew 7:16-20 says this:
16By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? 17Likewise every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. 19Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.
Do people recognize you by your fruit? They should. They should see something different from you. If you still have your sinful nature, because you aren't saved, then the fruit you will see from your life is not going to be very good. You aren't going to pick "grapes from a thornbush." You should be able to recognize a believer by their character. Their actions, their fruit. Take a look at your life right now. Are you seeing beneficial fruit coming from you? If you aren't seeing very much, try hard to work on that! Make it a priority to change that. Strive to be more like Jesus. He is the best example you have out there. But now your thinking, "how are you supposed to role model Jesus? I mean you don't really get to actually "see" Him everyday, all the time." You have to be reading your Bible, studying and searching for what God is trying to teach you. Only then will you begin to notice some "fruits of the Spirit" coming from your life.
Have a great day!
In His Love,
