The Big Picture

Sometimes when we study the Bible we have the tendency to pick out little verses and passages that apply to our situation. There's nothing wrong with that; God's word is meant to help us in our every day lives. However, make sure to look at the big picture while you are reading. The fact of the matter is that although all Scripture is God inspired and very applicable today, it wasn't originally written to us. Think of who the writer was writing to, where they were, and what they would have thought. Then apply it to your life. Try reading a chapter at a time and writing down what the main theme was. Once you finish your reading for the day, sum it up! I hope this helps you read and understand your Bible better, and brings you to a closer relationship with Christ. :)

1 Timothy 3:16-17
16All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Your sister in Christ,
Becky
