A Living God

Have you ever wondered Christianity is so different than other religions? Because we serve a Living God. Buddhists serve a god who is dead, Muslims serve a god who is dead, and so do most others. God sent His Son Jesus, to die on the cross for our sins. The only way to rectify our sins is by the shedding of blood. And it couldn't just be anybody's blood, but the blood of a perfect man, one who has no faults. Hebrews 9:22- In fact, the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness. Jesus came down to earth lived a perfect life, faced all the temptations and trials we face today, and then died a horrible death on the cross. He was burdened with all of our sins on His shoulders. Jesus offered His life, so that we may live. But three days later He rose from the dead! 1 Peter 1:3-5 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade—kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God's power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. We have a "living hope" in Jesus because He was raised from the dead and is still living today! Our inheritance, our spot in heaven will never perish, spoil, or fade like everything else in the world. Jesus was the ultimate sacrifice for our sins. God's Word is also living! It applies to life right now, as we live. Hebrews 4:12- For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Did you know that the Bible says something about abortion? God knew that was going to be an issue in society today and He put in the Bible. Proverbs 31:8a says: Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves. It also talks about homosexuality. Genesis 2:24- For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh. When Satan is tempting you, flee that temptation! Fight him with scripture. It's as sharp and a double-edged sword. Look up verses that apply to struggles you are facing, and memorize them! Then when Satan is tempting you to be impatient, or be disrespectful, you have something to fight him with. Today, thank God that you serve Him, a Living God! And that He has given you His Living word.

In Christ,
Jessica ♫
