Sin- how do we overcome it?

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. ~Hebrews 12:1

I want y'all to really think about what those verses say. It says that we needs to throw of everything that hinders us and the sin that so easily entangles. Do we do that? Our flesh nature enjoys sin and it's hard to despise it. But do we abstain from things that can lead us astray? That is really hard to do. Especially if everyone else is doing it, which usually they are! We want to be different and set apart. Something that is really difficult for us girls to handle is gossip. When your friends gossip, maybe you don't say anything, but if you are standing in that group and you are apart of what they are doing, you are just as bad as they people gossiping. Next time that happens, maybe you can say something nice about that person they are talking about. One time we had talked about gossip in Sunday school and my friends and I made up this plan where if we were ever with a group of people and they started gossiping, we would scratch our arms as like a secret code and then turn around and walk away at the same time. Yeah, I know that sounds dumb, but it works! :) It takes two people to gossip. The person gossiping and the one listening. When you work on stuff like that with your friends, it keeps you accountable. If you struggle with a sin in your life, find a a good friend that loves the Lord and is in the Word and ask her to keep you accountable and pray for you, and you can do the same for her. Anyways, I'm going to stop my tangent about gossip! lol :) The last part of the verse talks about running the race with perseverance! I encourage you all to run the race of life with all that you've got. Stay plugged into God's Word, be a godly example for people around you. When you are in high school and middle school, younger girls look up to you more then you know! Be a good example for them by living your life the way God wants you to. Honor God with your life, strive to make the best of things!

Romans 8:28- And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

Love in Christ,
