Choices :)

Hello dear friends!
We are back! :) I hope this past week has been one filled with blessings and fellowship in the celebration on our Savior's birth. I've missed writing on here, even though it was just a week! :) Today I want to talk about choices and how they affect our lives, and the lives of others around us. Whether it be a negative or positive way our choices make a huge difference in our lives.

2 Samuel 12:13-18

13 Then David said to Nathan, "I have sinned against the LORD."
Nathan replied, "The LORD has taken away your sin. You are not going to die. 14 But because by doing this you have made the enemies of the LORD show utter contempt, the son born to you will die."

15 After Nathan had gone home, the LORD struck the child that Uriah's wife had borne to David, and he became ill. 16 David pleaded with God for the child. He fasted and went into his house and spent the nights lying on the ground. 17 The elders of his household stood beside him to get him up from the ground, but he refused, and he would not eat any food with them.

18 On the seventh day the child died.

David made a life changing choice. He succummed to his desires and committed adultery with Bathsheba. David had a consequence for his choice- his son died. Can you imagine how life shattering that was for him? All because of that one choice. I'm sure if he could have gone back, he would have made a different decision. In the end, David begged God for forgiveness and God was merciful to David and he went on to become one of the most renowned men in history. What an amazing story! All of us our going to sin, and make wrong choices. But we have forgiveness and hope in Jesus! We know that he will always take us back, even when we've wronged Him, if we have a repentant heart. This coming year, make an effort to think about what kind of choices you make in your everyday lives. Think about how they affect other people. Try to change the way you make decisions. Ask yourself what God would do. Don't just read this and not apply it to your life. Do something different. :)

Love in Christ,
Jessica
