The Comparison Game

Do you ever find yourself caught up in the comparison game? Peter fell into it too:

John 21:20-23

20Peter turned and saw that the disciple whom Jesus loved was following them. (This was the one who had leaned back against Jesus at the supper and had said, "Lord, who is going to betray you?") 21When Peter saw him, he asked, "Lord, what about him?"

22Jesus answered, "If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? You must follow me." 23Because of this, the rumor spread among the brothers that this disciple would not die. But Jesus did not say that he would not die; he only said, "If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you?"

Everyone gets caught up in comparing themselves to someone else at sometime. It's easy to say that we need to stop and start measuring ourselves against God, but that isn't the easy thing to do. How can we focus less on others and more on Christ? Well, coming off what Jessica said yesterday...

How often do we make a concerted effort to spend some time with God, where we can give Him all of our attention?... Don't you think you could spend some of that time with your heavenly Father? God wants us to abide in Him as often as possible. He wants us to give Him our undivided attention.
When we spend time with God, He takes our mind off other things. We leave thinking more about Him and how to further His kingdom, and less on superficial outward things like clothes, hair, and popularity. Spend sometime with Christ today and ask Him to give you a heart that loves others and focuses on how to bless them.

I guess you could call this post "Time With God- Part 2" :)

Have a great day in the Lord!
Becky :)
